The 2014 DV Diversity Visa Green Card lottery results are available as of May 1, 2013. Those who applied in 2012 for a chance to win permanent residency in the USA can now check if they won.
When it comes to the Green Card Lottery, there are three different years associated with each installment of the Diversity Visa lottery: the year when applications are accepted, another year when the results are announced, and the year of the visa itself. Therefore, the results made available May 1, 2013, are for the applications submitted in 2012, and the official designation is Diversity Visa 2014.
Please be sure to have the Entrant's Confirmation Number, Last Name/Family Name/Surname, and Year of Birth in order to check the entrant status online.
If you lost your confirmation number you cannot check the results. The Kentucky Consular Center (KCC), which administers the program, cannot look up your number. Even if your application was picked, since you can't check your winning status, you haven't won.
If you use a third party green card lottery site that helped you with your application, they should check your status for you, as well as provide you with the Entrant's Confirmation Number.
If you didn't win the lottery, you will see the following:
Based on the information provided, the Entry HAS NOT BEEN SELECTED for further processing for the Electronic Diversity Visa program at this time.
Please verify that you have entered all information correctly. You may re-check the Entry status by clicking on the ESC Home Page link below
If you won, then congratulations to you! The site will display the information in reference to what to do next. You will receive a notification e-mail, then the site will display an appointment letter with information about your immigrant visa interview.
From the instructions for the DV-2014 DV lottery:
SELECTION OF APPLICANTS
Based on the allocations of available visas in each region and country, the computer will randomly select individuals from among all qualified entries. All DV-2014 entrants will be required to go to the E-DV website Entrant Status Check using the unique confirmation number saved from their DV-2014 online entry registration to find out whether their entry has been selected in the DV program. Entrant Status Check will be available on the E-DV website at www.dvlottery.state.gov starting May 1, 2013, and continuing through at least June 30, 2014.Selectees will be directed to a confirmation page that will provide further instructions, including information on fees connected with immigration to the United States. Entrant Status Check will be the ONLY means by which selectees will be notified of their selection for DV-2014. The Kentucky Consular Center will not be mailing out notification letters. Those selected in the random drawing are NOT notified of their selection by e-mail. Those individuals NOT selected will be notified of their non-selection through the web-based Entrant Status Check. U.S. embassies and consulates will not provide a list of selectees. Selectees’ spouses and unmarried children under age 21 may also apply for visas to accompany or follow-to-join the principal applicant. DV-2014 visas will be issued between October 1, 2013, and September 30, 2014.
