About Republic Wireless

Republic Wireless mobile phones

Republic Wireless is a relatively new player on the mobile communications arena, although it is a part of a more experienced Bandwidth; among Bandwidth clients are such well-known names as Google, Skype, and Vonage.

What sets Republic Wireless apart from the other, much bigger telecommunications companies, is their very cheap mobile plans. The Republic's prices are lower due to the "Hybrid Calling"--phone calls over the Internet using Wi-Fi--which is encouraged to be used among its clients. Wi-Fi is also used for text messaging, therefore reducing the overall usage of the mobile networks.

When the mobile is not connected to the Internet via the Wi-Fi, Republic Wireless uses Sprint's mobile network. It also roams on AT&T and Verizon when Sprint's signal is not available.

Free Calls from Russia, Europe, and the Rest of the World

Due to the fact that a Republic Wireless doesn't require a cell signal to work, it can be used anywhere in the world, as long as there is Internet access via Wi-Fi, with no extra costs involved.

As you might know, the vast majority of American mobile phones that use CDMA cannot be used on GSM network in Europe, including Russia. Some US phones have a capability of roaming in GSM, but the prices are typically high for such usage overseas.

The Hybrid Calling technology allows a Republic Wireless phone to be used in Russia, Europe, and anywhere else in the world, convenient and fast.  The only thing needed is the Internet access via Wi-Fi (this has been verified personally in German airport and all over St. Petersburg, Russia, where there is a plenty of free Wi-Fi.) The calls are free, i.e. there are no extra charges on top of the regular monthly plan fee.
